KENYA PAEDIATRIC FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM – SCHOLARSHIPS AT MOI UNIVERSITY.

The Kenya Paediatric Fellowship Program (KPFP) is pleased to announce exciting scholarship opportunities for Paediatricians seeking to advance their careers in the following sub-specialities at Moi University;

  • Paediatric Haematology-Oncology
  • Paediatric Neurology
  • Paediatric Emergency and critical-care
  • Neonatology.

Successful applicants will undergo a two-year competency-based training program at the Moi University which includes extensive supervised clinical experience.

The KPFP scholarship will cover tuition fees and a stipend. (All benefits to be outlined in the scholarship award letter)

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Candidates who meet the following criteria will be prioritized:

  1. A qualified paediatrician with a Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health (MMED) from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
  2. Registered to practice in Kenya by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
  3. Completion of at least two years of practice as a Paediatrician.
  4. Currently employed as a paediatrician in a recognized health institution.
  5. Evidence of proficiency in English language if previous degrees were not in English.
  6. Valid professional indemnity cover during the period of training.
  7. Following interviews, successful candidates employed by the county governments need to secure approval and release from a county government or institution training committee. This release should include commitment from the employer to continue your salary during the training period.
  8. Evidence of bonding from the current employer will be required from successful candidates, prior to admission to commence training.

Candidates who work in the following areas will be prioritized;

a) County Governments within the Republic of Kenya

b) Facilities with existing staff trained through Kenya Paediatric Fellowship Program

c) Faculty in Public training institutions & Faith-Based organization training institutions

d) Health workers in Faith-Based organizations

e) New- born Essential Technologies (NEST) sites in Kenya will be prioritized for the training of neonatologists and midwives

f) College of Paediatrics sites

g) Staff from the national and county Teaching and Referral Hospitals which host the KPFP Training institutions will be considered

h) The larger Eastern Africa region

i) ELMA supported countries such as (Malawi, Ethiopia & Rwanda) on condition that the programs are not offered in those countries.

Recruitment into the programme will be conducted through a transparent competitive selection process that would include consideration of a written application, shortlisting and interview process.

PROGRAM SELECTION

Each candidate must go through the following process to be awarded a scholarship:

  • Confirmation by the employer (Complete the KPFP application form)
  • Shortlisting and interviewing by the training institution.
  • Admission by the training institution
  • Selection by the KPFP scholarships selection committee
  • Release and bonding by the employer as per the public service commission guidelines
  • Enrolment by the training institution.
